The West River Elite College Showcase that took place over the weekend at E3 Sports Complex in Rapid City, South Dakota. There was strong play from the boys players and they showed a bunch of skill and playmaking. There were a good amount of players that showed the ability to play heavy minutes and still perform and be fast on the court.

Preston Yellow, 5’11”2026 point guard, Rapid City Central

Preston was by far in a way the consensus MVP of the showcase and the most dominant and productive player there. The unsigned 2026 point guard has clearly been working on his game because he made minimal mistakes with the ball with his handle and he was passing the ball cleanly in tight spaces without error. He led in scoring by getting all the way to the rim in transition and in the half-court, float, and he was knocking in pull-up jumpers.

Yellow is an under-recruited guard because he’s under 6-foot, but his command and impact at the college showcase showed he can compete at the next level at the D3/NAIA level.

The West River Elite College Showcase took place over the weekend at E3 Sports Complex in Rapid City, South Dakota. There were boys and girls groups and first we give a mention to the girls standouts from the two-day event. There were prospects from all the way down to the 2031 class up to the current 2026 Senior class. And the youth movement in girls basketball on the West side of the river was clear to see with legitimate 2030 and 2031 prospects in attendance and competing at a high level.

We have 10 standouts and they include some up-and-coming D1 prospects out West River.

Karmyn Kjerstad, 5’9” 2028 guard, Wall High School

Kjerstad was only there on Sunday for the showcase but she instantly stoodout with her speed and overall impact on the court. She was on another level in terms of speed and quickness on the court. She had that extra gear that the others didn’t quite have. Kjerstad was also making a ton of plays as a passer that turned into positive plays, with either a pass for points or getting fouled for free-throws.

Kjerstad is a clear college prospect at the NAIA level and I think D2’s should consider her simply because of her elite speed and elite motor. If her skills continue to develop, she’s a sneaky add for a D2 looking for motor and upside.

Haley Falcon, 5’6” 2027 guard, Rapid City Stevens

Haley was a top standout because of how well she shot from three, making multiple threes per game on Saturday. She was easily the leader in three-point makes over the weekend. She was aggressive and accurate, and showed range.

One of the top three-point shooters in South Dakota, Falcon showed ability as a ball-handler and passer at the showcase. Falcon was seen grabbing a high percentage of her team’s defensive rebounds and turning the ball upcourt via the dribble in transition. Falcon showed another layer of her game that she’ll carry over into her Senior season where she has All-State potential. Defensively, she’s always locked-in and ready to react.

Deng Mayen, 6’2 2029 guard, Sanford Sports Academy 15U Black

Mayen was the best performing 2029 prospect there in the two games I caught. So fluid and lengthy, plus he has one of the top offensive skillsets in the South Dakota 2029 class. Mayen’s stock is up big-time in C3 Scouting’s eyes.

The Sanford Pentagon Spring Jam took place this past weekend April 25-26. We saw some of the top prospects in South Dakota in attendance. C3 Scouting looks into the standouts and stock-risers from the tournament.

Colby Nuttbrock, 6’5 2027 Wing, Sanford Sports Academy 17U Black

Nuttbrock showed an all-around and consistent game by getting on the boards, finishing at the rim, hitting jumpers, and he defended the ball hard. One of the top prospects at Spring Jam that backed it up with solid play. The D2’s in attendance have to like what they saw.

15U MADE Hoops Circuit team Sizzle Elite MHC competed at the MADE Hoops Midwest Warmup in Rockford, Illinois on April 18-19. The team went 2-1 and lost to the stacked Mac Irvin Fire EYBL.

Carter Cupito, 6’0 2030 Point Guard, Minnehaha Academy

The eighth-grader of Minnehaha Academy, Cupito played up a division at the MADE Hoops Midwest Warmup. He had games of 22 points, 18 points, and 11 points. You’re not going to find many eighth grade kids as skilled, poised, and play with the IQ and feel that Cupito plays with.

C3 Scouting was there live in St. Cloud, Minnesota on day two of the 2026 Comets Spring Shootout. It was a high-energy tournament with college coaches gathered in and ready to make offers after the tournament.

Jumair Wright, 6’1 2028 point guard, Minneapolis South , Hoop Habits 16U UA

Wright took a little bit of time to get going on Sunday with his impact and playmaking but he warmed up and showed elite creativity with the ball as a ball-handler and skillfull passer to lead Hoop Habits 16U UA to a championship. He’s a very lengthy 6’1 with arms to his knees that he uses to be a defensive creator and shot-blocker at the rim. He’s a point guard that is nearly impossible to contain by the initial on-ball defender. He dribbles a lot but it results in him getting by the defender and him getting deep into the lane.

Waleed Muhammad, 6’2 2027 guard, Richfield, MN Select 17U Fuerte

Muhammad was best on court at the Comets Spring Shootout. He’s an absolute defensive animal that makes opposing point guards want out of the game. Because he picks up full-court man-to-man on the ball-handler as soon as possible in change of possessions. He gets there quickly and he doesn’t let up. His offensive game was the best I’ve seen him play. He was getting to the rim often but he took things up a level by shooting the three well and getting them to fall consistently throughout the game.

The 2026 offseason is underway

TEAM Warwick brought their teams to Omaha, Nebraska for the RecruitLook Omaha Showcase March 27-29. I will watch as many games as possible from the tournament and bring some recap and analysis on the top prospects and other observations I see.

We’ll start with TEAM Warwick 17U Warner, which is the program’s top 17U program coached by Cliff Warner.

The team has players predominantly from South Dakota, but they also have a player from North Dakota and one from Wyoming.

C3 Scouting caught two of their games online, with one being an impressive with over Arizona Unity 17U EYBL.

Brant Wassenaar - 6’4.5 - 2027 Guard - Sioux Falls Christian (SD) TEAM Warwick 17U Warner

Wassenaar is the team’s top prospect and the top prospect in South Dakota. He has D1 offers from Drake, South Dakota, and South Dakota State. In Omaha Wassenaar was very very impressive. He looks much more comfortable with the ball in hand and he was being the alpha and he knew he was the best player on the floor. He was the primary ball-handler and his ability to handle the ball cleanly under pressure from the legitimate length and athleticism of Arizona Unity EYBL was a takeaway. Arizona Unity’s quick and sturdy guards had trouble containing him as well as they threw a couple different type of defenders at him. He showed great overall speed with the ball and was able to get separation on the defense to score at the rim or kick to teammates if multiple defenders collapsed on him. He’s always been a great passer and he showed that as well by making long passes on a dime and seeing the floor and holes in the defense to find open teammates at the hoop. Wassenaar was aggressive from three as well and he didn’t pass many up. If he had a clean look he was putting it up. He shot well from three and showed desirable shooting range.

Defensively he’s so good and so solid and sound as well. He applies some pressure by mirroring the ball and he’s nearly impossible to get by off of the drive. He has mobile feet and uses his strength and length to contain the offensive player. He got in rebounding position off of the shot and was getting up for boards.

At the end of the Arizona Unity game, Wassenaar took matters into his own hands and had three layups where he blew by a lengthy defender that could move and also a quick, strong and sturdy guard. He got more comfortable and confident in his ability to take things over as the game progressed.

Introducing C3 Scouting’s underrated prospects in the Midwest. These prospects are of different value and are underrated given their respective states. For example, some of the Minnesota prospects are more highly-recruited than the South Dakota and North Dakota prospects.

DWJ is considered a top 20 2027 prospect in Minnesota, but I still think he’s getting undersold. Elite athlete with two-way ability. Crazy shot-blocker for a guard and extremely bouncy and explosive. When I complete the Minnesota 2027 rankings, he will be higher than you’d think.

You had to come to the game early to find a spot to sit at the Bismarck Century vs Bismarck High game Tuesday night. It was a packed house and C3 Scouting took the three hour drive to be there live, and it was well worth the trip.

In a back-and-forth game through it’s entirety, Bismarck High School came out on top 70-64. It was a slow game to start for the stud prospects but they eventually started making play after play. Very very fun game.
