Jayce Rodriguez (2028)

2028 Colonia (NJ) guard Jayce Rodriguez is a player that is making waves as one of New Jersey’s top rising players. After averaging 20 points per game as a sophomore, and already approaching 1,000 career points, Rodriguez is gaining interest from universities all over the country.

The 6-foot-3 guard talks his Colonia High legacy, points of emphasis for his goals, and early recruitment.

Rodriguez spent his grassroots summer on the EYBL circuit with PSA Cardinals, a program that is known for developing guards into impact players at the next level.

“My summer with PSA was a very good experience for me,” he said. “I learned a ton, not just on the court but lessons off the court also, that built me to a better person. Being on the EYBL circuit this summer has helped me by being playing against top players in the country every single game and knowing I can compete with those guys any given day. I would say my shot making ability under pressure is something I work on daily that has definitely improved over this summer. Coming into every game knowing that I’m going to be guarded heavily plays a big part in me working on my shot making ability under pressure. I think my passing/IQ is also something that I had to work on that has improved drastically. Over the last 2 years I had to take on a big role of being a leader and that is something I prioritize as a big part of my game to help our team win.”

In this stage of his career, Rodriguez has made his name by scorching the nets as a cerebral shot maker. His positional size, functional strength, and his ability to play on angles feeds into his ability to break down defenses and score from multiple areas on the floor. He says he believes everything he learns with his coaches and teammates at PSA helps him improve his game for the school season.
