C3 Scouting is turning a focus to produce a Minnesota 2028 rankings on the website. Since you can’t see everything and everyone live during the offseason, I’m going back on as much film as possible to put forth an educated and dedicated Minnesota 2028 class rankings.
I first started diving into film on the Gain Elite 16U P32 team from the offseason, since I hadn’t seen much of them recently.
The team has a couple guards that will be ranked highly in the Minnesota 2028 class, 6-foot-2 Taaj Whitlock of DeLaSalle High School and 6-foot-1 Judah Mitchell from Bloomington Kennedy High School.
Let’s look into their profile and game, with an emphasis on their strengths.
Taaj Whitlock (2028) 6’2” PG, DeLaSalle High School
Whitlock is a point guard that can also play off the ball. He’s in the 6’2”-6’3” range and is the team’s top prospect and will fall in the top 10 in the Minnesota 2028 class rankings. After University of Wisconsin-offered guard Kevin Wilson Jr of Tartan High School and D1 Minnesota 3SSB, Whitlock is the next most gifted pure offensive talent in the class. In my eyes, he’s the most skilled three-point shooter in the Minnesota 2028 class—when you look at all aspects of being a three-point shooter. He has—of course—the accuracy and knockdown ability, but he also a full package with a quick release, very deep range, off the dribble three creation, and is elite on the catch and shoot when not bringing the ball up. He’s a high volume shooter and will consistently get his three off all game. He has the next shot mentality and a missed three will not affect his decision-making on the next three-point opportunity. He’s very confident in his shot and the chances of the next shot dropping.
