Top-25 2028 wing Will Brunson is a player that college coaches are tracking closely. The IMG Academy (FL) Small Forward made the move to Bradenton Florida from Rutgers Prep (NJ) with hopes of maximizing his development and exposure. For a player like Brunson, who’s been on national radars since middle school, he’s now finding himself as a player and is no stranger to working hard to improve not only his stock, but his skillset as well.
“I think the biggest adjustment so far is every practice matters, just as much if not more than the actual games,” he said. “Especially playing against all the talented players we have on our team. Playing against good players everyday has definitely made me have to be more efficient in everything I do. Whether that’s the angles I take on defense, or the amount of dribbles I take to get to my spots offensively. The strength and conditioning has helped me also, I’m now 205 lbs, and we lift five days a week.”
Brunson had a pretty strong summer, playing up a division and being an integral part in NY Rens 17U making an EYBL run, as well as participating in various camps such as the Paolo Banchero P5 camp, Damian Lillard’s Formula Zero camp, Nike Top 100 camp, and the NBPA Top 100 camp. The 6-foot-6 wing dialed in on what he gained from each experience.
“I learned from Paolo and Dame specifically about working, and doing it consistently with detail,” said Brunson. “Playing up with Rens helped me be able to play off the ball, and learn how to excel in different roles. Every camp, and experience I had this summer was valuable to me, and beneficial in different ways.”
Brunson is a consensus top-25 prospect in the class of 2028, already holding offers from Auburn, VCU, Rutgers, Seton Hall, TCU, Notre Dame, Villanova, Louisville, Kansas, Indiana, Georgia Tech and more. It’s safe to say Brunson is being heavily recruited by schools in every major power conference. He says schools in the ACC, SEC, BIG 12, BIG 10, and BIG East are recruiting him the most.
“My recruitment process has been cool so far,” said Brunson. “Being able to see how much interest schools have to get to know me and check up on me.”
